“If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.” - Captain Jack Sparrow
I started out as a generalist when it came to making video games and applications. A jack-of-all-trades type of person if you will. I loved doing both art and coding and wanted to try to find a way to combine both of those to satisfy both sides of what I enjoyed doing. That's where I found technical art and wanted to explore everything it could offer.
There's so many aspects of technical art and so many different pathways within them. I found my niche in creating environmental art, creating lighting and making a world feel real. I love creating special effects that add to a world and make them feel so much more alive and interactable.
Even though I enjoy the artistic side of things, I love being able to create something from nothing even more. Whether that is through coding a mechanic, drawing something on a blank page, or just brainstorming ideas and ideating on them. Being a jack of all trades gives me the freedom to have explored all aspects of game development, and given me insight on how other departments and areas work.
